The USDA Streamlined-Assist refinance, step by step

Loan age and payments

Assist note

The existing USDA loan must have closed at least twelve months before the refinance, and payments over the past twelve months must have been on time. A payment thirty or more days late in that window generally means waiting. Lenders check your mortgage payment history rather than re-underwriting your whole file.

Count your months

  1. Find your original closing date.
  2. Check twelve months of payment records.
